Our Management Team
Cooloon was opened in February 1986; after initial sponsorship by Tweed Shire Council and is a community-based non-profit making organisation. This means that all profits go back to the centre to provide resources for the children. Cooloon is a member of CCSA (Community Connections Services Australia) who help to support us by giving specialist knowledge in early childhood education and care – focusing on governance, management, compliance, business support and workplace relations.
The Centre is accountable to the Department of Education and Training, (Australian Government) through the provision of Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Cash Rebate (CCR) to families and participation in the Assessment and Ratings system and is licensed to operate by the NSW Early Childhood Education and Care Directorate Department of Education and Communities, who provide some funding.
The strategic direction of the centre is in the hands of a Management Committee, which is elected annually from the parent body and interested community members.
Their tasks include:
-
Developing the Strategic Direction
-
Developing the policies for the centre,
-
Managing the finances and employing staff.
All parents are invited to stand for this committee and/or attend regular committee meetings. Childcare is available for these meetings as they are held in the evenings. Parent input is important for the centre and for your child.
